Ages since I got near my blog. Am involved with writing a book at work and although it’s not a personal project, it has actually been pushing some of my creative buttons in a good way. Page layout in InDesign, styling copy, selecting and presenting lots of photos. And when I’ve not been working late on that I’ve been reading up on web design. An old version of Dreamweaver Bible and a Creative Computing magazine with lots of tutorials. Not much fingers on keyboard time, but getting a bit more of an overview of how things work in web design and what’s possible. Still not decided whether to buy an Adobe CS3 package, and reluctant to do a lot of training until I know what software versions I’m settling on. Took my old Epson printer to the recycling centre but still haven’t bought a new one although I did drool over a Canon pixma ix5000 in Exeter today (rather expensive at £329). Also for work have designed some postcards but the print house is making a bit of a hash of proofing them so that’s got rather stuck in the mud. Also need to sort out the web hosting. Signed up with Streamline, then found it was more complicated to move my domain from Eclipse, and then decided as work uses Eclipse it might prove easier and more useful to stay there, even if it is a bit more expensive. But I can’t use their online ordering nice and conveniently at a weekend, have to do that by phone during working hours. All very annoying. Read a review of Jane Bown in a magazine. Simple high quality equipment. Getting on with taking photos, capturing the moment. And here’s me getting mired in silly technical hitches and havering around about spending decisions instead of getting on with being creative. Although I feel fairly positively sidetracked towards the web design side of things, and think I will pursue that a bit further for the time being.
